Got the blues

OOTD June 17 2010

Outfit Details:

tee - Old Navy, skirt - Joe Fresh, necklace - so old can't recall, shoes - Aldo

Tsk tsk, I have been a bad blogger. Where did I go? To tell you the truth, I have no good excuse. I haven't been out of the country, abducted by aliens or generally too busy to post. I've just been feeling a little lazy lately -- both in terms of writing and putting together inspiring outfits.

In fact, I've fallen into a summer uniform of shorts or capris and a tee or blouse and flat sandals. I still think I look cute, mind you. Just nothing to write home about.

I decided that enough is enough, and it's time to feel inspired again. It might take me a while to find my groove again, so bear with me.

Blue is one of my favourite colours, and I'll pretty much wear all shades -- indigo, royal, teal, you name it. So today I went with a monotone palate of blue. The shoes make me ridiculously happy. I an in love with the silver, and the precious little bow. The fact that they are super comfortable make these pretty much the prefect little flats.

Outfit Details:

tee - Joe Fresh, skirt - H&M, shoes - Aerosoles, bracelet - Costa Blanca

I wore this outfit a few days ago because I've been dying to break out my "bird" skirt. After taking the picture, I wasn't entirely happy with the way this look turned out, and ended up changing my top to a ruffled little peach number. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take a picture of the changeroo, so the initial outfit is what you get.

Oldie but a goodie

OOTD April 9 2010

Outfit Details:

sweater - Banana Republic, skirt - Old Navy, shoes - Steve Madden

This used to be one of my staple outfits from about 5-6 years ago. Most of my sweaters from this era of my life hit me at a similar place -- right at the top of the hip -- which is great for skirts. It's also a nice option to have in my closet since most sweaters and tops hit at mid-hip or longer these days. Yet another argument I have (yes, I'm talking to you DH) for having a well stocked closet.

A little bling bling would make this outfit much more interesting. But when I was getting dressed this morning, Maya was still fast asleep (she made her way into our bed midway through the night) and I didn't want my rustling through my jewelry box to wake her up.

Rain rain go away

OOTD April 7 2010

Outfit Details:

dress - Diane Von Furstenberg, necklace - Cleo, tights - Joe Fresh, shoes - Steve Madden

After a week of picture perfect weather, including a gloriously warm long weekend (which I didn't get to partake in since my client doesn't observe Good Friday or Easter Monday), the weather has turned cold, dark and rainy. I knew of course, the good weather wouldn't last forever. But I'm still a little bummed about it.

Since there's a chill in the air today, I decided it was time to pull out this sweater dress. Since it's a cotton-linen blend (hence the wrinkles), it's not too warm for the April weather, but still makes me feel cozy. I adore the extra long sleeves.

Saturday is supposed to be the beginning of another warm and sunny streak. All I have to do is hold out until then.

H&M Garden Collection

OOTD April 6 2010

Outfit Details:

tank - H&M, cardigan - J.Crew, jeans - Banana Republic, shoes - Poetic License, necklace - Cleo

When the Garden Collection came out a few weeks ago, I was super excited. The collection looked fun and spring, and the price points were surprisingly good. Unfortunately, working full-time has not been beneficial for the inner-shopaholic in me. (Although it has been extremely beneficial for the wanna-be-millionaire in me, since I have less opportunities and time to spend mah moolah). By the time I had a chance to get to H&M a few days after the collection hit stores, it was pretty picked over.

I did manage to snag a few cute tops including this rosette tank that I fell in love with. It is very J.Crew-esque without the J.Crew price tag.

However, even though I love the tank, I'm not happy with how my outfit came together today. The tank is hitting me at the worst possible spot making me look wider. I think I'll need to take it up a few inches, and then it'll be perfect.

Spring is here

OOTD April 3 2010

Outfit Details:

tank - J.Crew outlet, cardigan - H&M, skirt - H&M, necklace - Banana Republic, shoes - Connie, belt - Anthropologie

The weather this weekend was wonderful. Each day seemed to be nicer than the next, and I am happy to report that I spent it doing very little besides relaxing, playing with DD and BBQ-ing with friends and family. I'm sure it won't last, but as I am typing here by an open window in my den, letting a cool breeze through and some much appreciated sunshine, I am content.

This is what I wore on Saturday when I went with a friend to get a mani and pedi, and have a little girlie chit chat. I always forget how wonderfully indulgent it feels to be pampered. I should really go more often.

The skinny pants experiment

OOTD Apr 1 2010

OOTD Apr 1 2010

Outfit Details:

top - Joe Fresh, cardigan - J.Crew, necklace - Cleo, pants - Old Navy, shoes - Poetic License

Today is officially the first time I've attempted skinny pants since the 80s. (Of course, back then it was accompanied by an oversize graphic sweater, a million neon bracelets, lace headband a la Madonna. Oh, and I was 10. I probably got away with a lot of fashion crimes in those days.)

When I tried these on in Old Navy, I wasn't sure if the silhouette would work on me, but figured these were worth a try for $14 (gotta love those friends and family sales!).

With the boyfriend sweater to cover up the junk in the trunk, and heels to lengthen the look, I don't think it came out too badly. I'm sure DH will still say I look like a penguin, but what do boys know anyway! I'd rather know what you think.

My OOTD skills have apparently gone rusty. It took me 40, yes that's right 40, shots to finally come up with these two decent ones. Hopefully things will speed up once I get back into the swing of things.

I'm back... AGAIN!

I'm so sorry that I keep disappearing. Things have just been a little hectic between work (am officially a full-time work-from-home now), home and everything in-between. But it's been a good busy, and that's always a good thing.

I have to admit that another reason I disappeared for awhile is because I was trying to decide if I should even continue blogging. (Yes, I'm sure all 24 of you followers would have been crushed! LOL) I think that putting yourself out on the Internet, especially fashion blogging, runs you at risk of looking unprofessional. And I went through a panic attack wondering if any of my colleagues could stumble across my blog and think... WEIRDO! So I've been busy cropping my face out of every photo in the hope of anonymity. I'm sure if someone really tried, they could still find out who I was... but at least this makes it harder. Plus, the crazy stalker type that does that is probably not someone who I work with. Gee, I hope not anyway!

So stay tuned... regular updates and outfits to resume!
